Major General James M. Collins is set to visit Lacey, WA  in April 2019 to speak on the National Museum of the US Army (NMUSA) under construction at FT Belvoir, VA.

The Lacey South Sound Chamber Military Affairs meeting is scheduled the first Tuesday of each month at the Hawks Prairie Restaurant, 8306 Quinault Dr NE, Lacey, WA. This location is in close proximity and easy to get to from Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). This is a great opportunity to have a fantastic mean at Hawks Prairie, while connecting with your local community.   Local Realtor, Cheri Wilkins will be attending and supporting the event. The meetings start at 8:00 a.m. We work to enhance communications and business opportunities between the Thurston County business community and local military installations and units. Representatives from various units on JBLM, the National Guard and Reserve Forces provide an update on their ongoing activities and current events. Military Affairs Chairperson Jerry Wilkins suggests “if you want to take the opportunity to develop relationships with our local military individuals and be aware of their activities, please consider attending the meeting!” Members of the VA the Fairway team will be in attendance and we look forward to seeing you at our meetings. 

The April 2nd meeting will have a presentation by Major General James M. Collins concerning the new National Museum of the US Army (NMUSA) under construction at FT Belvoir, VA. He will provide information as to how to participate in the project and submit their Soldier stories or stories for their loved ones.

According to ArmyHistory.org this museum will serve as the capstone of the Army Musuem Enterprise. The museums purpose will be to celelbrate the selfless ervice and sacrifice of over 30 million men and women who have worn the uniform since 1775.  Using advanced technology, the museum hopes to capture the attention of visitors both old and young.  Honoring United States Soldiers from the past, present and future, the museum will be an educational experience. Located near the nations capital in Washington, it will be located at Fort Belvoir, VA.  Included at the museum will be the Army Art Collection, documents for display, images and pricess artifacts never before seen. The museum expects to host 500,000 – 700,000 guests a year!
