Take a Spring outing to one of the many Farmer’s Markets near JBLM

Are you ready to get out of the house and head out on a fun day trip from JBLM? Military Spouse Olivia Michelle says, “Summer is my favorite time of year in Washington State and the nice weather brings out all of the local farmer’s markets! The great thing about our area is that we have so many markets to choose from and they are all on different days of the week.” Before you head to the markets be sure to stop by a local coffee shop for a warm cup of coffee on your way.

Here’s a few of the best markets to visit around JBLM and when they will be starting this year.

Puyallup Farmers Market
324 S Meridian Puyallup WA 98371
Saturdays 9am – 3pm

The Puyallup Farmer’s Market is one of the biggest in the state and my personal favorite. It is located in the heart of downtown Puyallup in Pioneer Park. It has tons of vendors including fresh veggies, handmade items, food trucks, and fresh flowers. This market used to be located at the South Hill Mall in Puyallup and has moved to this new location. The market starts back up Saturday, April 16th.

Tuesdays, 2-7pm

The Lakewood Farmers Market is held at Fort Steilacoom Park and is the closest market to JBLM. The park has a playground and paved walking trails for fun after the market. Vendors include fresh fruits and vegetables, food trucks, flowers and plants. The Lakewood Market will return the first Tuesday in June and run through August 30th of this year. Tacoma Farmers Market
925 Broadway Tacoma, WA 98402

Thursdays 10am -2pm

Tacoma actually has multiple markets. I’m referring here to the one in Downtown Tacoma on Broadway. It is a smaller market but convenient to those that live or work downtown. There are fresh produce vendors and food trucks. This market starts back the first Thursday in May and runs through October. Look for street parking or pay to park in one of Tacoma’s many pay to park lots.

Point Ruston Farmers Market

5101 Grand Loop Rd. Point Ruston, WA 98407

Sundays 11am – 4pm

Point Ruston is a nice outdoor shopping center with restaurants, a movie theater, splash pad, playground and waterfront walking path. The view from this area is breath taking and perfect for photos. You can enjoy the farmers market and spend the rest of the day enjoying activities at Ruston afterwards. The market includes a handful of fresh produce, food vendors and baked goods. The market returns the first Sunday of June and runs through September this year. Limited parking is available on the streets, with pay to park additional options in the large parking garage.
